This development is part of the country’s evolving intellectual property system, with the Intellectual Property Department releasing JOURNAL TM/2024/01, dated May 1, 2024.
The announcement allows stakeholders and interested parties to oppose any trademark registration applications they believe may infringe upon their rights or business interests, in accordance with Myanmar’s newly enforced Trademark Law. The publication of these applications opens the door for formal objections, an important process in ensuring fair trademark practices in the country.
Interested parties wishing to oppose any published applications must do so within the statutory time frame.
