Trademark Search & Risk Assessment
Our Myanmar trademark search service reviews trademark records available at the Myanmar Intellectual Property Department (IPD) for identical and similar marks, taking into account the relevant Nice classes and goods or services.
- Assessment of distinctiveness, descriptiveness and potentially conflicting marks, with reference to Sections 13 and 14 of the Myanmar Trademark Law 2019.
- A report setting out the search results and registration risk assessment.
- Practical recommendations where appropriate to help associates consider the next steps before filing.
The assessment is based on the records available at the time of the search and does not guarantee registration.
Filing Requirements
Please provide the following information and documents for review.

| Applicant details | Full name, address, telephone number and email address; incorporation information where the applicant is a company. |
| Trademark | A clear representation of the mark. |
| Goods and services | A specification of goods or services and the relevant Nice classes. |
| Representative appointment | A notarized TM-2 appointment of representative in PDF format. |
| Priority claim | Supporting documents where priority is claimed. |
| Translations | English or Myanmar translations where required. |
TM-2: A notarized PDF copy is sufficient for our filing process. No endorsement or original hard copy is required. We provide a TM-2 draft following our initial review.
Registration Procedure
Application and examination: The application is filed with the IPD and examined for filing formalities and absolute grounds for refusal. Amendments or responses may be required during examination.
Publication and opposition: Applications proceeding through examination are published for opposition. Any opposition is addressed through the applicable examination and opposition procedures.
Registration and certificate: Where the application proceeds to grant, the registration is recorded and published, and a registration certificate is issued.

Application draft for approval: We send the draft for your review and confirmation before filing.
Filing and reporting: Following your confirmation, we file the application and email the filing receipt once available. We communicate office actions, deadlines and any further instructions required in a timely manner.
